Hi, I'm Thao
I was born and raised in Vietnam, surrounded by traditional handmade trades and a growing art scene. I moved to the US at 17 and later studied Fashion Design and Art Direction in San Francisco, where I became increasingly drawn to art, fashion, and the way creative work can hold stories and connect with people.
I discovered weaving in 2020 almost by accident. My first attempt was on a small wooden toy frame, using leftover yarn I’d kept for years, and I loved it immediately. Weaving gave me a way to slow down, work with my hands, and make without needing to know exactly where a piece was going.
Since then, that first experiment has grown into a wider practice across weaving, macrame, and mixed-fiber techniques. What began as curiosity soon became something I kept returning to, and it continues to challenge me to explore new techniques and possibilities. Making helps me stay close to myself, follow an idea wherever it goes, and keep discovering something new. I treasure every moment of experiencing this life, and through my work, I hope to offer a little of that beauty back to the world.
